Newmarket Part-time Voluntary Role - no remuneration

Category: Volunteering Posted: 12.05.2021

The Newmarket Pony Academy is a new project designed to give young people the opportunity learn new skills such as team work, confidence and resilience. It is based at the British Racing School in Newmarket. We will be running week long courses designed to introduce children to ponies and using a different learning environment we will strive to engage them in core subjects along with equine care. Further to this we will be running breakfast, afterschool and holiday clubs for local young people. We really believe in the social and mental health benefits from this type of learning and are incredibly excited to empower these young people.

We are looking to recruit a team of reliable volunteers who have a passion for helping young people learn and develop as individuals. Volunteers must have a positive attitude, work well within a team and be able to interact confidently with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Previous experience with horses is important for the role and experience with young people in an education or non-educational setting would would be very desirable. Training can be given to an individual with the right attitude as well as help to develop their own personal skills.

We are also looking for someone who would drive our mini bus delivering children to and from the British Racing School for their courses.

All volunteers with receive a full induction and will need to be DBS checked due to the nature of the role. The NPA believes in equal opportunities for staff, volunteers and all young people. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of trainees and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
