Volunteer Career Makers
Applications to become a Volunteer Career Maker are now invited.
If you have a passion for the racing industry and wish to share that passion with others, we want to hear from you.
This is a great opportunity for you to:
- Inspire a generation of young people to consider a career within the horseracing industry
- Communicate your enthusiasm and positive personal experience of being involved in horseracing
- Enhance your own personal development by developing communication and presentation skills
As part of our Volunteer Career Maker network, you will attend local school career fairs and other events. A career fair usually lasts around 2 hours often in the afternoon or evening. A range of local employers and industries attend such events, with students attending – normally those in Year 9 upwards (from about 13 years old).
We are happy if you can do just one event a year – or several! You will be provided with access to a careers kit which will include a pop up stand, table cloth and information leaflets, as well as online training and support and branded clothing.
A passion for the industry, strong communication skills and racing knowledge are essential as you will be representing the industry and showing school pupils what careers are available in the industry. Training will be given to ensure you are clear of the various pathways and options available, and that you are confident on the FAQ’s that are likely to come your way.
