Stud Secretaries and Stud Administration Course
The National Stud
- 5 day introductory course 2nd-6th September 2019
The National Stud runs this 5 day short course on stud administration every two years. The course provides an overview of the role of the stud secretary and covers an understanding of the veterinary input and essential paperwork required in breeding the Thoroughbred.
Having a wide syllabus the course offers a range of relevant topics and includes visits to Weatherbys and Tattersalls. Visiting lecturers come from practical stud management backgrounds, veterinary science, the British Horseracing Authority, Equisoft and the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association. It is a comprehensive overview of the role and pivotal function of the stud secretary.
Delegates in the past have said how useful and instructive the course was in either helping them to find a job in the industry or just to understand the stud administrative function more fully. Many previous course attendees have gone on to stud administrative posts in some of the industry’s leading breeding operations.
The National Stud is also able to offer onsite accommodation and board for the entire course at a very competitive rate. The accommodation is in the Stud’s student residential unit and will consist of an en-suite bed study room with use of the shared communal areas. It is a relaxed and comfortable place to stay.
