Operations Executive – Plumpton Racecourse.
Operations Executive, Plumpton Racecourse.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our great team here at Plumpton Racecourse, situated in the heart of the East Sussex countryside and at the foot of the South Downs. Working as part of a small but passionate team, you will be responsible for the operations and facilities at the racecourse, both on racedays and non-racedays.
A progressive National Hunt course with a varied fixture list, alongside an ever-growing portfolio of events, the position aims to ensure the site complies with all safety requirements, set-up demands, licensing requirements, operational activities and the very varied requirements of racedays and bespoke events. Alongside this you will be a fully-fledged member of the office team working alongside the caterers, administration team and performing office duties as required, including phone and administration duties.
Plumpton Racecourse is a hidden gem in the world of horseracing. The thrill of jump racing, the joy of a win, delicious food and drink, and stunning rural backdrop provide a memorable sporting experience for everyone from novice to racing expert. Plumpton races 17 times a year from September through to May, and with a track just over a mile round, we offer great viewing of the whole course. You are also likely to be rubbing shoulders with the UK’s top trainers and jockeys who regularly come to Plumpton, and we are renowned as a nursery ground for the equine stars of the future. Plumpton Racecourse also boasts an extensive estate and many hospitality facilities, which makes the racecourse an ideal venue for Weddings, Banqueting and Events.
Your role will require excellent communication skills both verbal and written and you must be extremely organised. A background with risk assessments and licensing is preferable although not necessary. Office work and computer skills will be very beneficial as large parts of the role are office based and include administration, monitoring stock levels, answering the phone and risk assessments. There will be an element of practicality to the position and the day to day role will be varied, with a long-term focus upon ensuring the site is managed effectively and with a strategy for maintenance and improvement, as well as some physical elements where furniture and site set-ups are required.
We look forward to receiving applications from candidates who have a ‘can do’ attitude, desire to succeed and embrace working as part of a small and dynamic team.
