Overview

The National Stud is a working stud which offers training courses for people who have a passion for the Thoroughbred breeding and bloodstock industry.

The courses are aimed at those wishing to enter the industry or develop existing skills, combining practical experience with theoretical knowledge and the opportunity to gain industry qualifications.

The two main residential courses run at The National Stud each year are:

Entry to Stud Employment Programme (Level 2 Work Based Diploma in Racehorse Care – Breeding Option) – Entry level course combining nine weeks instruction at The National Stud with a paid 6 to 9 month supervised work placement.

The National Stud Diploma in Stud Practice and Management – A five month residential course covering the thoroughbred breeding season. This course starts in January each year and finishes in June.
