The National Stud’s Diploma in Stud Practice and Management
Develop your career in the Thoroughbred Breeding Industry
The National Stud’s Diploma in Stud Practice and Management runs over 5 months each year, from mid January to June and covers a Thoroughbred breeding season. The programme is run by The National Stud in Newmarket and consists of lectures, visits and practical work, providing advanced levels of training on Thoroughbred breeding and the Thoroughbred industry. The practical element equips students with a full understanding of the breeding industry and the workings of a busy stud.
Diploma students work alongside the Stud’s staff to gain the essential practical experience in all aspects of a breeding season. This is combined with the well-respected series of evening lectures which include topics on stud management, pedigrees, veterinary medicine and pasture management. In addition, students benefit from additional input from past graduates, industry figures and trips to important organisations.
The course is assessed by a variety of methods and students will have the opportunity to gain a number of additional qualifications including the Level 3 Certificate in Thoroughbred Stud Practice.
The course recruits throughout the year and interviews are usually held in the autumn for the 24 annual course places. For more information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.View course availability
