Overview of British Racing

The British Horseracing Authority hosts this one day informative seminar 3 times a year at a variety of venues in the UK. This year's seminars are being hosted by Mike Cattermole and Simon Mapletoft, both well known broadcasters.

The course provides a general introduction to the world of racing and is ideal for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of racing or develop their career in the industry and covers a variety of interesting topics.

It is ideal for those who have just started their job in the industry and would benefit from learning about the structure of the industry and how all the different organisations work together.  It will help build your confidence and make you more effective in your role by improving your knowledge.

You can also use this seminar to help you study for the Level 1 Award in An Introduction to the Horseracing Industry or the Level 2 Certificate in the Structure of the Horseracing Industry.

The packed agenda features talks from key industry figures, covering many aspects of this complex and historical sport. Subjects covered include:

  • The role of the British Horsracing Authority and Weatherbys
  • Racing in the Media
  • Betting industry
  • Breeding and Stud industry
  • Rules of Racing
  • Racecourse management

25th July                   Northern Racing College, Doncaster hosted by Mike Cattermole

26th November       British Racing School, Newmarket hosted by Mike Cattermole

The seminar costs £90 per person and that includes VAT, lunch and refreshments.  Payment is to be received before the seminar.
