Level 2 Certificate in the Structure of the Horseracing Industry

BHEST Level 2 Cert

This Level 2 Certificate is perfect for someone with a basic understanding of the industry or someone who is already working in the racing industry and wants to learn more. 

It is the second in a suite of qualifications that provides a knowledge and understanding of how the horseracing industry is structured, including information about its governance and administration, key organisations, the operation of racecourses and the betting industry and the history and role of the Thoroughbred.

Completing this qualification will help you be more effective in your role by using your improved knowledge and it will increase your confidence by having a better understanding of the structure of the industry.

The areas of learning include:

  • Major racing organisations
  • The organisation, governance and regulation of the racing industry
  • Licensing and funding
  • The outline structure of the Fixture List
  • The role and operation of racecourses
  • The outline structure of the betting industry
  • The development and present day role of the Thoroughbred

In addition, it is recommended that you undertake some independent or guided learning about aspects of the racing industry, for example reading the racing media and researching the role of various racing organisations.

BHEST Level 2 Cert

There are two different delivery options:

  • the first involves a seminar consisting of presentations and lectures on the content of the syllabus, followed by an invigilated test.
  • the second involves self supported study from workbooks provided and an invigilated test.

Alternatively, you can attend an Overview of British Racing one day seminar and then sit an invigilated test when you are ready to do so. 

These qualfications can be completed at your own pace to fit in with your schedule.

If you decide to attend a dedicated seminar or the Overview of British Racing one day seminar and then sit the invigilated test, the cost would be £190 plus VAT per person.

If you want to take the self-study option and then sit the invigilated test, the cost would be £80 plus VAT per person.
